My two little connosieurs

It was with much amusement that we sat in a litle restaurant in venice recently with Roland and Caron, and watched Celine make friends with an Italian couple behind us that spoke no english. Not deterred in the least, she chatted to them and before long they were offering her tastes of what they were eating. However what we did not anticipate was her enthusiastic reaction to mussels, which was what the Italian woman had as a starter. Celine declared enthusiastically that she would also like "fish in shells" for lunch. "No", we said gently - "we have already ordered for you - and you will be having spagetti for lunch." This was met with tears streaming down her face, and no matter how hard we tried to sell the positives of homemade italian spagetti, she was having none of it. Well, she cried throughout eating her spaghetti, nagging about her "fish in shells" constantly. This continued throughout the day, way after her lunch and into the next morning.

Anyway, as luck would have it, we deceided to go back to that same restaurant the next day, as we had all enjoyed it immensely the day before. On entering the restaurant, Celine made her wish known once again. So we deceided to order it for her, and since she had never ever eaten it, we anticpipated her tasting it and then donating it to one of her parents. Imagine our surprise when this little 3 year old dived into her plate of mussels, relucantly sharing about 3 of them with Mom. She soon got the knack of opening the shells and sucking out the delicacies in the middle and before we knew it, she was all done!

A few days later we had another meal in a restaurant in Bellagio, and this time she deceided she would have the calamari! When the warm "octopus and potatoe salad" arrived she clapped her hadns together in warm approval and said "ho ho ho!". Needless to say she made short work of that one to!

Jess also gave us a few laughs on the plane, as she looked at the Royal Air Maroc breakfast, and said to Andre "Hmph! This is not much of a breakfast!" She was completely right. The croissant was completely stale, and she passed on the coffee (Yes offered to 5 year olds!) but I could not help wondering what we have created. At least they are not fussy eaters, and seem to have a sense of adventure when it comes to different food!!
